Baseball camp is a great place to learn the fundamentals of the game of baseball in a fun, learning environment. Campers are split into groups and taught skills like hitting, bunting, fielding, throwing, base running and sliding. They are taught position fundamentals for infield play, outfield play, catching and pitching. After getting some repetitions during drills, the campers are able to try what they learned during a controlled baseball game with the coaches pitching. We also teach games that the campers can play at home or in an open lot like Yankee Ball, Home Run Derby and Stickball. During every activity the campers are being evaluated and have a chance to win a “Patch”, which could lead to a medal and even a “Biggie”. We have recently added a skills competition recognizing the fastest runner, most accurate arm and a Home Run Champion from each division. But probably the best reason we have a baseball camp is to get the kids off the couch and away from the video games, get them outside in the fresh air and exercising.
